USES is turning 125!
In October 1891, a group of well-to-do individuals came together to discuss the economic struggles and social injustices facing the South End community and how they could work alongside residents to effect change. Quick to action, on January 1, 1892, Andover House opened its doors to the community. By launching the first settlement house in Boston, those men and women pioneered the social justice movement with a philosophy of neighbors helping neighbors.
You’re invited to celebrate this incredible milestone with a birthday celebration complete with cake, party hats, children’s activities and entertainment, and an opportunity to share your stories of life in the South End/Lower Roxbury.
The event is free but please register at uses.org/birthday
