Why do 70% of Asian Americans with serious mental illness refuse to seek help? Why not create a secure, mobile-friendly website that neutralizes stigmas with videos of Asian Americans describing real problems and treatment? A site that is sensitive to cultural and language barriers, that provides important, accurate information and that connects Asian Americans with peers and local, professional help via a geo-locater. A partnership of 40+ organizations — Together Empowering Asian Minds (T.E.A.M.) intends to make this website a reality!
TEAM will screen short videos depicting Asian Americans coping with mental illness at this event. Please share your ideas for creating this innovative website so that Asian Americans can access vital information without time and space constraints – Talk about breaking through silences and service silos!!
The event is FREE but RSVP is required: https://team2015.eventbrite.com
