BOSTON — Register now for MitoAction’s 10th annual Energy Walk and 5K presented by America’s Compounding Center, set for Sunday, Sept. 14, starting at DCR’s Mother’s Rest Area at Carson Beach in South Boston.
Participants have the opportunity to walk along the picturesque waterfront and bond with other patients and families facing mitochondrial disease while raising money and awareness for MitoAction on the organization’s 10th anniversary. MitoAction is a Boston-based nonprofit whose mission is to improve the quality of life for all who are affected by mitochondrial disorders through support, education, outreach, advocacy, and clinical research initiatives.
Register in advance or onsite at 8 a.m. The Energy Walk and 5K will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at DCR’s Mother’s Rest Area, located at 125 William J. Day Boulevard, Boston. Registration fees are $10 for walkers; $27 for 5K runners; free for youth 13 years or younger. The 5K kicks off at 9:30 a.m., and the Walk begins at 10 a.m.
The MitoAction 5K & Energy Walk is an annual event that builds camaraderie among families and raises funds to support children, adult patients and those suffering from mitochondrial disease. Its mission is to reach every individual diagnosed with mitochondrial disease. MitoAction offers comprehensive, up-to-date, expert resources, information, and support, at no cost to any patient, family, clinician, educator, or member of the community.
The walk and 5K features a raffle, free Mito merchandise, fun, games and complimentary refreshments. The course is wheelchair- and stroller-friendly with stunning views of Boston Harbor.
