For more than 17 years, the A Million Laughs for Literacy Gala has raised millions to support National Braille Press’ Braille Literacy Programs which exist to ensure blind and visually impaired children are given an equal chance to read. Braille typically costs three times more to produce than the same materials in print, but NBP strives to make sure blind individuals do not have to pay more for the same information.
We will have special guests, our Braille AllStars; children and adults who have thrived through braille and have advanced braille literacy.
In its 96th year, National Braille Press continues to work diligently to produce the highest quality braille and tactile graphics while making it available in an affordable manner. It cost three times more to produce a book in braille than it does in print, however, braille is an essential tool for blind children and adults as are tactile graphics. Reading is a right that no one should be denied, and with your sponsorship, we can increase literacy by providing more access to the printed word through braille books, tactile graphics and early reading programs.
Together, we can defend EVERYONE’S RIGHT TO READ.
