Families living in emergency shelter and/or receiving housing subsidies include some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged families living in America. The underlying factors of homelessness are complex and vary as much as the families who find themselves in shelter. Therefore the exits from shelter, and eventually poverty, require an individualized, holistic approach designed to use housing as the platform beneath family stability, health and well-being, education and training, financial management and career management. Brain science informed tools and frameworks and the support of a coach will help an individual sort through the chaos that accompanies homelessness and begin planning a pathway leading to permanent housing, and eventually a family sustaining wage.
