Community Music Center of Boston proudly presents Crescendo! Building Community Through Music, a gala dinner at the Cyclorama Boston Center for the Arts on Saturday, September 16, 2017.
The Music Center currently has programs in over 40 satellites and partnership locations throughout Greater Boston, reaching nearly 6,000 students annually through in-house programming, 20 Boston and Cambridge public schools, and numerous music therapy-related social service agencies.
The evening will also honor and celebrate David Lapin’s 36-year commitment to arts education through his work at the Music Center. David Lapin transformed us from a neighborhood gem into the preeminent arts education leader that it is today.
Through his vision and commitment:
- over 200,000 students have received music education
- the Music Center has become the largest external provider of arts education in the Boston Public Schools
- annual scholarships have increased 60 times, from $5,000 in 1983 to $300,000 today.
