Brigid’s Crossing is a group home for teen mothers struggling amidst the unrelenting burdens of single parenthood and inadequate living conditions. Since 1997, Brigid’s has opened its doors to pregnant teens and teenage mothers, ages 14 to 20. The residence offers a safe, nurturing environment in which residents can assess their life situations, see to their basic needs, and work with compassionate, knowledgeable staff to tackle challenges on paths to self-sufficiency and greater senses of self-worth. Since its inception, Brigid’s has served over 250 families headed by teen mothers, helping young women see to their immediate health and safety concerns, develop bonds with each other and outside family members, seek educational and professional opportunities, and ultimately establish and maintain independent lives outside of the shelter.
