The BMA dinner and award gala event will be held on Thursday, October 24th at Venezia in Dorchester at 5:30pm. This year’s theme is Empowering Communities Through Partnerships! We will be honoring Emmanuel Gospel Center, BMC HealthNet Plan, and Lori Nelson, Chief Resilience Officer of the City of Boston. All three have been supporters of the BMA working in partnership with us to improve our communities of color. BMC HealthNet Plan has been a leader in launching our community health fairs led by BMA member churches. Lori Nelson was a long-term Board member of the BMA who recently transitioned off the Board when she accepted this new position for the City. She is also a member of St. Paul AME Church, another BMA member church. The Emmanuel Gospel Center is a co-collaborator with the BMA on the Boston Black Church Vitality Project and has been a resource for many in greater Boston.
Crystal Haynes, Boston 25 News, WFXT is our emcee for the evening. Mr. John Jenkins, President of West Insurance Company, Mr. Phil Hillman, Owner of PLH Enterprise, and Rev. David Wright, BMA Executive Director are chairs of the event. We will have over 300 guests in attendance including corporate and community-based leaders, clergy, and elected officials including the Mayor of Boston. Also children and youth from the BMA’s programs will be performing.
