ATASK was founded in 1992 to address the inadequate resources available to Asian domestic violence survivors. Our mission is to prevent domestic violence in Asian families and communities, and to provide hope to survivors. ATASK is New England’s only provider of linguistically and culturally appropriate services and programs for Asian survivors of domestic violence. For domestic violence victims who are unsafe, helpless and hopeless, ATASK offers a safe haven, help and hope over fear.
ATASK offers HOPE:
Housing in our emergency shelter
Outreach to Asian communities and a 24-hour multilingual helpline
Programs and services that support clients and their children and empower them to live independent lives
Education and training for youth, providers, and the public
The goal of the 2014 Silk Road Gala is to raise critical funds for the programs and services of the Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence, in particular for our emergency shelter as we celebrate its 20th year. Although ATASK receives many grants and other funding throughout the year, the Gala income is critical to the operating budget of the organization as the most significant annual fundraising event. The Gala also serves as an opportunity to bring our community of clients, volunteers, donors and staff together, in a celebration of the work the organization does, while raising awareness about the distinct needs surrounding domestic violence in the Asian community.
