The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) of the New England Region will host its 9th Annual Women of Valor luncheon on Friday, October 23rd, 2015. The Women of Valor Award is given to individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to fighting hate, building bridges of understanding, and safeguarding liberties for all. This year’s recipient will be Jackie Liebergott, President Emerita of Emerson College.
Jackie Liebergott, who assumed the presidency in 1993, is the first female president of Emerson College. During her tenure, she oversaw the enhancement and restructuring of the school’s distinctive programs in communication and the arts, the relocation and expansion of the school’s campus, and a significant increase in the size and academic quality of its student body and faculty. As a former faculty member, Liebergott established and co-taught Emerson’s first women’s studies course and later advocated for salary adjustments for female faculty members before the Board of Trustees in 1975.
