Founded in 2010 as a fundraising effort for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA), Team Intestinal Fortitude, Inc. has grown to be the most successful fundraising committee in CCFA history, and it has done so through various initiatives including marathons and signature events such as the upcoming Silent Auction and Raffle which will be held this year on Thursday, March 16th at the beautiful Thorny Lea Golf Club in Brockton, Massachusetts.
Hundreds of supporters and members of the Crohn’s and Colitis community will enjoy a lively cocktail reception with passed hors d’oeuvres, an impressive sushi bar and an open bar followed by live music provided by Baltazar Entertainment, a photo booth and both live and silent auctions. Guests will have the chance to win exciting memorabilia and exclusive getaway experiences, including a weekend on Martha’s Vineyard and four tickets to see either Kenny Chesney or Justin Bieber live in concert at Gillette Stadium this August.
12-year-old Timmy Wright will be honored as Team Intestinal Fortitude, Inc.’s 2017 Man of the Year and his mother, Kouri Wright, will be honored as the 2017 Woman of the Year. Timmy has been living with Crohn’s and Colitis since he was three years old and is a role model to other young kids living with the disease. His story shows that with hard work and a positive attitude, you can live a normal life and manage the disease instead of allowing the disease to manage you. His mother, Kouri, is very active in the Crohn’s and Colitis community and is being honored for her extraordinary efforts to improve the lives of children living with the disease.
“Being a mother of a child with IBD (inflammatory bowel disease) is the ultimate marathon; there are good months and bad months but Timmy’s strength and positivity inspires me to push through,” said Kouri Wright. “He is the one living with this disease, so I just follow his lead. He has taught me so much about the importance of keeping a positive perspective no matter the circumstance. If I can provide what I’ve learned from our journey, what we found to be helpful and not so helpful, with other families going through the same thing I feel that is an invaluable tool – especially for those who are newly diagnosed.”
Tickets to the 7th Annual Silent Auction and Raffle are $150 each and can be purchased online at www.intestinalfortitude.org. All proceeds will go toward CCFA’s mission to finding the cures for Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improving the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.
