What It’s All About:
Dream Street provides nationwide camping programs for children with chronic, life-threatening, and terminal illnesses. Funded by the Dream Street Foundation, children with cancer, HIV, blood disorders and other illnesses are given the opportunity to participate in activities that their diseases would otherwise preclude. For children who require medicine throughout the day, the usual sleep-away camp is not sufficiently sophisticated to handle their medical needs. At Dream Street, volunteer counselors and full-time medical staff are on hand 24 hours a day to spend time with any child who needs special help and love.

Among the activities? Dances under the stars, talent shows, arts & crafts, pool time, themed days, horseback riding, rock climbing, zip lining and so many others. Dream Street is a critical opportunity for children who are labeled “sick kids” in their everyday lives to be as carefree as they deserve. No child is left out of any activity. Just ask any of the numerous counselors and nurses that were once campers themselves.
Over 750 children and young adults attend Dream Street’s programs each summer. At present, Dream Street funds and operates programs in California, Arkansas, New Jersey, Mississippi, and Arizona. The camp sessions are FREE OF CHARGE to the campers that attend from all over the country.
All staff (doctors, nurses, counselors, and administrators) are volunteers that donate their time and energy to ensure that every child has an unforgettable experience. Why do we do it? Simply put, Dream Street is magical. We see the profound effect that it has on children dealing with sometimes unimaginable circumstances. And, it has a profound effect on us too. Every single one of us walks away from camp every summer with buoyed spirits, renewed faith in the good of people, and excitement to do it all over again in 365 days.
So come out on April 30 and support us and what we love to do. Be a part of the dream!
