Primary Source is delighted to present our 2015 Global Perspectives Dinner Series, a sequence of three fundraising dinners focusing on a country or world region. Enjoy three unique events throughout the year featuring a country or region’s best fare while learning about an engaging topic. Gain new knowledge, mingle with other globally-minded guests, and support our essential work educating K-12 teachers and students for life and work in today’s interconnected world.
Women in China Today
Join us and other globally-minded guests for an authentic, family-style Chinese meal followed by a conversation on the changing roles of women in China.
How have China’s rapid development and societal transformation affected the lives and status of women today? Recent reports in the U.S. press on the situation of women in China have spotlighted gender imbalance, employment discrimination, and violence against women. What are the realities and trends, particularly in light of this year’s 20th anniversary of the U.N. Fourth World Conference on Women held in Beijing in 1995?
Scholars Weili Ye, University of Massachusetts Boston and Cathy Yeh, Boston University will reflect on the gains, the losses, and the question marks. Conversation will be moderated by Melissa Ludtke, Author and Producer of Touching Home in China: In Search of Missing Girlhoods.
Tickets
Tickets are $125 per person, or join us for all three events for a discounted price of $300 (available until May 11, 2015). Please contact Judith L. Katz at (617) 923-9933 ext. 118 or judy@primarysource.org for more information.
