Please join us to celebrate the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi’s freedom movement in India which was launched in 1915 after his return from South Africa. His message of non-violent civil disobedience fueled mass resistance that not only unified India but also inspired freedom movements throughout the world.
The program begins at 4p with a music concert entitles “Music of Liberation.” It will present music from India and around the world that have inspired popular movements for freedom, social rights, and personal liberation.
That will be followed up by a keynote speech by Prof. Rajmohan Gandhi, grandson of the Mahatma, who is a celebrated scholar and historian.
Those visiting on Friday October 16th can also see an exhibition of rare historical photographs and an art works from local artists, as well as the movie “Gandhi” which won 8 Oscars.
