Rosie’s Place is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its founding as the nation’s first sanctuary for poor and homeless women with featured speaker, bestselling author Cheryl Strayed, at its annual fundraising luncheon. Funny Women…Serious Business will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Hynes Convention Center. The event brings together 1,500 supporters to celebrate Rosie’s Place’s unique mission and philosophy while raising funds for vital programs and services.
This year, the event will be co-hosted by longtime emcee Susan Wornick, along with her former WCVB colleague Karen Holmes Ward. They will be joined by anchorwomen from Boston television outlets: Latoyia Edwards, NECN; Lisa Hughes, WBZ 4, and Kim Khazei WHDH 7.
All proceeds from the luncheon benefit the innovative and transformational programs and services Rosie’s Place offers more than 12,000 poor and homeless women each year.
