Tony®, Grammy® & Emmy® Award winner Audra McDonald will perform at this festive annual gala to honor 22 exceptional volunteers — ABCD’s Community Heroes. These unsung individuals share their skills, time, and compassion to light the way for under-resourced, at-risk children, youth, adults, elders and families in Greater Boston.
In the darkest times, these heroes are the light that sparks hope. They partner with ABCD to empower those in the grip of poverty with the tools and means to turn a flicker into a flame of promise and success. They Illuminate the Path to a better future.
Audra McDonald has won a record-breaking six Tony Awards, two Grammy Awards, and an Emmy Award. Along with her Broadway accolades, she is known for leading roles in TV’s The Good Fight and Private Practice, and as Madame Garderobe, an opera singer who is transformed into a wardrobe, in Disney’s live action Beauty and the Beast. Ms. McDonald is also a passionate activist and philanthropist.
