There’s a lot of tension these days among Americans who are divided politically, and the current polarized public conversation doesn’t help. Many of us feel we need better skills in order to have constructive conversations with Americans on the other side of the political divide – especially going into the holiday season when we may have opportunities to talk with family, friends and acquaintances outside of our usual social circle. If you’re trying to imagine a new conversation with someone, where you’ve previously been stuck, or wanting to start talking with people on the other side, join us for a Skills Workshop, co-sponsored by Better Angels and the Public Library of Brookline. You’ll learn skills for having respectful conversations that clarify differences, search for common ground, and affirm the importance of the relationship. Better Angels (www.better-angels.org ) is a bipartisan citizen’s movement started in 2016 that is bringing “red” and “blue” Americans together to build new ways to talk to one another and participate together in public life.
