The Elsie Frank 5K for Kit Clark Senior Services honors the legacy of the late Elsie
Frank, beloved and inspirational mother of former Congressman Barney Frank. Elsie
was a passionate champion for elders. She served as President of the Massachusetts
Association of Older Americans and was a delegate to President Clinton’s White House
Council on Aging.
The Elsie Frank 5K will be held at DCR’s Pope John Paul II Park, in Dorchester. All
participants, including those who choose not to run or walk, are invited to join the
celebration at the start/finish line, which will feature entertainment, exhibitors, and more.
Registration is $25 in advance; $30 day of event.
All proceeds from the Elsie Frank 5K will benefit Kit Clark Senior Services. Since its
founding in 1974, the organization has been providing critically needed supports to
vulnerable older adults in Boston. Kit Clark serves 4,000 low-income elders and has an
enormous impact in these principal program areas: food services, transportation, social
services, mental health care, memory-loss, home care, adult day health, fitness, and
homelessness prevention/housing services. The agency’s flagship program is the Elderly
Nutrition Program. Each day, it delivers 1,500 meals to homebound elders through its
Meals on Wheels Program.
