Our Celebration of Today’s Women is 23 years young this year. Annually we have the thoughtful task to review many nominations for this award. And each year we have a difficult time to pick just one. This year was no different than the past as our field of candidates were all extremely worthy of this acknowledgement. And the envelope please…
We are delighted to announce Amy Hoey as the 2016 Celebration of Today’s Women honoree. Amy exemplifies the qualities we strive to instill in our girls – STRONG, SMART and BOLD.
Amy demonstrates this devotion through her work as a nurse and healthcare leader, ensuring the people in our community have the access to the highest quality healthcare while leading a workforce inspired to deliver compassionate care to patients. For more than 20 years, she has grown rapidly from a nurse at the bedside, to Clinical Manager and Director, to Chief Nursing Officer and now as Executive Vice President and COO of both Lowell General Hospital and Circle Health.
As a community member and a mother of two teenagers, Amy is committed to the doing the real work it takes to improve the quality of life in our community. She is enthusiastic and optimistic in her efforts to positively impact the lives of others in ways that are large and generous as well as unassuming and quiet. Above all, she is a kindhearted mother, wife, sister and friend and a true role model for the girls and young women of the Greater Lowell community. What better way to encourage our girls to be healthy, educated and self-reliant than by honoring Amy and all that she embodies.
Provide a tremendously important gala sponsorship today, and provide vital funding that enables Girls Incorporated to enhance educational programming throughout the year which allows us to reach and educate more girls than ever before. Your contribution will provide literacy classes year-round so we can help our members attain grade-level reading skills and prevent summer-learning-loss; support our increased STEM classes in our Center and in our Outreach Program; champion our teaching of the concepts of community, leadership, self confidence and stress management through many of our holistic classes and especially in our Teen Center programming; and back our efforts to strengthen girls’ self-image and self-belief by teaching them to focus on their strengths and abilities, both physical and mental.
Please join us on Thursday, June 2, from 6-9pm at the UMASS Lowell Inn & Conference Center to honor Amy Hoey for her role in inspiring all girls to be strong, smart and bold.
